Mommy Makeover

Having children is one of life’s greatest blessings. However, the effects of childbearing on a woman’s body can leave long lasting changes. The energy and time it requires to take care of a newborn and/or toddlers continues to affect how the body adjusts even after pregnancy. Some women are able to recover from childbirth, and have their body return to its pre-pregnancy state. A significant portion of women, however, notice that they have trouble with this and can even have trouble finding clothes that fit correctly.

A mommy makeover is created specifically for you and your needs. It is designed to help restore and rejuvenate your body in order to get you back to looking and feeling your best, helping improve your self-confidence in the process.

A mommy makeover usually consists of a variety of procedures. The procedures that are done are tailored to you and your needs. They are discussed with you at your consultation. A mommy makeover may include:

Abdomen

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

The abdomen is stretched during pregnancy and can have difficulty returning to it pre-pregnancy state, leaving the patient with “widened” abdominal muscles, excess skin, and sometimes extra abdominal fat. Abdominoplasty is designed to restore the abdominal musculature to its original position, remove excess skin, stretch marks, and fat. Often times a c-section can result in an unsightly scar that can be corrected with this procedure as well.

Breast

Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

There are significant hormonal breast changes related to pregnancy that continue after child birth, particularly in the breast feeding mother. Patients often feel that, as a result, their breast have a deflated or “droopy” appearance. A mastopexy can help restore a more youthful appearance to the breasts.

Breast Augmentation

Some women lose significant breast volume as a result of pregnancy and childbirth. In these women, a breast augmentation is a good option to create a fuller more perkier appearance. This is often combined with a breast lift in these situations.

Breast Reduction

Many women have dealt with significant neck and back pain issues for years, but are hesitant to undergo a breast reduction to reduce the size and volume of their breasts due to concerns about breast feeding. They often wait until after they are done having their families to proceed with surgery.

Body

Liposuction- Stubborn areas of fat that seem to persist no matter what you do are very common after having children. Liposuction can be used by itself or in conjunction with other procedures to get you back your curves.

Thigh/Arm lift- Extra skin in the thighs or on the arms can persist after pregnancy. A thigh lift (thighplasty) or an arm lift (brachioplasty) can be performed to remove excess skin and improve the contour of your extremities.

Other Procedures

There are also several non-surgical options that are available to help rejuvenate the body after having children. These are often used in conjunction with surgical procedures, but can also be performed alone. Non-surgical body shaping/sculpting, vaginal rejuvenation, laser therapies, and skin tightening are also used to get you looking and feeling your best.

Rowe Plastic Surgery will work with you to get you the results you desire. This typically involves several procedures performed at one time. We recommend that you complete your family planning prior to undertaking a mommy makeover. Your procedure will be personalized, and the results will leave you feeling refreshed and more youthful.

Depending on what procedures you require, insurance may cover all or a portion of the cost. Breast reduction may be covered by insurance in some instances. Also, if you have a hernia as a result of pregnancy, insurance will usually cover the cost of repairing your hernia. Financing is available if required. Our team will help you navigate the process and work with you to get looking and feeling your best.
