What is a Mommy Makeover?

One of the most rewarding experiences of motherhood is being able to carry a child. Yet, pregnancy and childbirth can change your body and the struggle to regain your pre-pregnancy physique can be a challenge, especially if you have had multiple pregnancies.

No matter how much dieting and exercising you do, it may not be enough to fix the loss of volume in your breasts, loose skin, excess fat and weakened abdominal muscles. A comprehensive combination of plastic surgery procedures, known as a mommy makeover, may be just what you need to improve the shape of your breasts, abdomen, and waistline, and restore your body to its pre-pregnancy appearance.

Mommy makeovers are uniquely customized to meet your personal needs. Any one of the following procedures can be performed alone or in combination with another procedure. Note that when you combine your procedures you reduce the amount of time you will need for your post-operative recovery and give yourself a more sensational change to your appearance.

Typical mommy makeovers can include:

  • Breast augmentation
A breast augmentation is a great option for certain women who are unhappy with the size, shape, and/or appearance of their breasts. Breast augmentation surgery can enhance or restore self-confidence by improving the symmetry of your breasts.
  • Breast lift
Pregnancy, weight loss, and the natural aging process can change a woman’s body and result in sagging or flat breasts. Often women can benefit significantly from breast lift surgery.
  • Tummy tuck
Also known as an abdominoplasty, a tummy tuck extracts excess fat and skin from your abdominal region. The intended aesthetic outcome is to give your abdominal muscles a flatter and more toned appearance.
  • Liposuction
Liposuction is a safe way to remove the excess fat from your abdomen, waist, hips, buttocks, thighs, and upper arms.

Age should not be a consideration for a mommy makeover. When you are physically ready and mentally prepared to invest in yourself you are ready for the procedure. To undergo a mommy makeover you should be:

  • In overall good health
  • At or near your desired target weight
  • No longer breastfeeding
  • Not planning to have more children
  • A non-smoker
  • Someone to help you at home after your surgery

After your mommy makeover procedure, you will need to have follow-up visits with your doctor at Rowe Plastic Surgery. Based on your post-operative instructions, it is important that you continue your exercise regimen and continue to eat a balanced diet so that you can enjoy your new look for years to come.
